1. What POEM is

Per-oral endoscopic myotomy divides the overtight muscle at the lower oesophagus from inside, leaving no external scar.

Achalasia does not recover on its own; POEM treats the muscle, not the cause, which is why symptom relief is the honest goal and reflux is the honest trade-off.

For manometry-confirmed achalasia. The manometry tracing, not the symptoms alone, is the key document to send.
