Procedures & packages

The procedures international patients ask about most, with indicative price bands and what actually moves them; the shape of common screening packages; and where care clusters. Each area's own pathway page, linked from the menu, explains the process in depth; this page stays practical.

Common procedures, with indicative bands

Twenty-five procedures international patients ask about most, across thirteen areas, filterable below. Bands are drawn from provincial price schedules and institutions' published lists; they are indicative, not quotes, and the treating institution's own estimate is the only figure that binds.

¥170k–330k / course Proton & heavy-ion therapyOncology 6–8 weeks, outpatient

Proton and carbon-ion beams deposit most of their energy at a set depth, which lets the treating team shape dose around a tumour and spare more of the tissue behind it.

Indicative only. We publish no comparisons between institutions and add nothing to any hospital's bill. Cell and gene therapies (CAR-T, stem-cell studies) are available only at filed institutions after their own clinical assessment; nothing on this page implies eligibility or outcome.

Why we publish bands, never quotes, and no success rates

Competitors publish exact prices and success rates; we publish neither. A price attached to a diagnosis is meaningless before a plan exists, which is why the cards above give bands and what moves them, never a figure pretending to be your case. A success rate published without its source, its study population and its indication is not information, it is marketing wearing a number.

Where we can cite primary published evidence with a named population, a stated indication and a clear limit, we will. Where we cannot, we describe the process and stop. That is the whole editorial rule, applied equally to conventional surgery and to traditional medicine.

Where care clusters

Four bases cover most journeys. Each links to how to read the institutions there.

Need something that fits none of these?

Most real cases are custom: a screening day plus one specialist review, records translated first, an interpreter for two days only. Tell us the shape of yours and we will quote our part of it, in writing, before anything starts.

One caution about what gets advertised

Some treatments appear on agency sites as though they were available to buy when their actual legal status here is narrower, permitted inside a registered clinical trial, or for a specific indication, rather than offered as a purchasable service. Cell and regenerative therapies are the usual example.

Before you travel for anything in that category, ask the institution directly, in writing: under what authorisation is this being provided to me, and is it a registered clinical trial? A clear written answer is a good sign. A vague one is a reason to stop.

What is not here

  • Disease explanations. What a condition is, how it is staged, how a treatment works, these are written better elsewhere by people with the standing to write them, and we would only be adding a worse copy.
  • Views on whether a treatment is right for you. That is a clinical judgement and it requires someone who has read your records.
  • Named institutions per area. We publish the government register in full instead, with each entry’s filing number and a link to its own record, see all hospitals.
  • Areas we have not written yet. If the one you need is missing, ask and you will get an honest answer, including “we do not know that one well enough to write about it”.

Your area not listed?

Ask. If we do not know it well enough to write about it, that is what you will be told.
